Air Source Heat Pump |
Heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners in moderate climates. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space into a warm, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house; during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide up to 4 times the amount of energy they consume. |

On the 1040 form the residential energy tax credit (from Form 5695) is claimed on line 52.

To ensure that New Jersey residents get the full benefits of an energy-efficient central air conditioner or heat pump (i.e. that it operates as efficiently as its energy rating suggests it should), the rebate will be processed only if your installing contractor submits documentation that the air conditioner or heat pump has been properly sized and installed.
Central Air Conditioner rebate amounts are based on the unit's SEER and EER and documentation that the proper installation requirements have been met. Both the condenser and coil must be replaced or installed as a matched set as rated in the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute certified performance criteria.
Geothermal/Ground Source Heat Pump rebate amounts are based on the unit's EER. Documentation that the unit has been properly installed is also required.
Heat Pump rebate amounts are based on the unit's SEER, EER and Heating HSPF and documentation that the proper installation requirements have been met. All three factors (SEER, EER and HSPF) must meet minimum requirements in order to qualify for a rebate.
